Educating your child through play
We understand the need for children to be treat as individuals, learning and developing at their own pace. All children have specific needs according to their age and ability. These needs are met by continuous support, encouragement and praise to ensure that each child reaches their full potential.
Our goal is to prepare your child for going to 'big' school and meeting their needs from an early age will greatly promote understanding and enjoyment of leaning and education.
The nursery follows the 'Early Years Foundation Stage' which has been designed to promote children's welfare, develop positive relations, meet children's individual needs.
The 6 main areas of learning and development are:
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development,
- Communication, Language and Literacy,
- Problem solving, Reasoning and Numeracy,
- Knowledge and Understanding of the World,
- Physical Development,
- Creative Development.
All of our wonderful, dedicated staff are Police Checked, hold at least a level 3 NQV qualification and a Paediatric First Aid Certificate.
We also have a specially trained Pre-School Teacher, an Additional Needs Co-ordinator and a Health & Safety and Child Protection Officer.
At Little Acorns, we believe that a well equipped, stimulating outdoor play area is an essential part of nursery day care provision.
The nursery's large enclosed garden is easily accessed by the children via a back door. It is surrounded by a 6ft high fence and the gates remain safely locked throughout the day.
Babies 0 – 2 Years
Our babies are cared for in 2 separate purpose built rooms which have been specifically designed to cater for children of this young age. They are bright and airy with lots of natural light and resourced with stimulating, good quality toys and equipment. Young babies have a separate quiet sleep area with their own cot. Fresh bedding is supplied for each child and cots are not 'shared' between children. From approximately 12 months, toddlers are cared for in a separate room where they have the freedom to play and explore in a safe, secure environment. Lots of new challenging activities will be introduced as your baby grows and develops.
